1487071 Refrigeration; cooling electric motors CARRIER CORP 9 Oct 1974 [29 Oct 1973] 43791/74 Headings F4H and F4U In a refrigeration system comprising a compressor 10, a condenser 14 and an evaporator 11, the compressor motor casing 37 includes a sump for a condensible liquid coolant, e.g. a mixture containing a refrigerant and a lubricating oil, the vaporized coolant passing through an outlet pipe 40 to a heat exchanger 41, which includes a coil 43 containing condensed refrigerant from the condenser 14 and in which the coolant is condensed before passing through a pipe 47 and inlet valve 51 back to the sump, A pump 55 directs liquid coolant through pipes 57, 60 to bearings 30, 31 of the rotor 27.
