Abstract

1486776 Collapsible mould W A WHITE 16 Oct 1974 [19 Oct 1973] 48745/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] A collapsible mould comprises a base 1, moveably mounted on a supporting structure, means to vibrate the base, a back wall member 6 fixed to the supporting structure, and front 12 and side 10 wall members that are retractable away from their moulding positions. As described, the front wall member 12 is hinged to a carriage resiliently mounting the base 1, and includes two independently retractable members 15 that define spigots projecting from the moulded article, and support spring urged plates 16. The back wall member 6 pivotally supports the side wall members 10 that in use are clamped to the front wall member 12 by brackets 11 and straps 13. The back wall member 6 supports two cores 8 and a grouting- duct-forming-member 9, which are independantly retractable while guided by supports 7. All the wall members include grouting-ductdefining-projections 18. In use, the assembled mould is filled with concrete which is tamped by a vibrated or pressed plate hinged to a wall member. The base 1 is vibrated by an out-of-balance motor. The members 15 are retracted by hand wheels/ screws 14 while plates 16 push on the concrete spigots defined thereby, the cores 8 and duct member 9 are retracted, and the wall members 12, 10 hinged apart. The base supporting front wall member 12 and moulded article is wheeled away from the back and side wall members 6 and 10 on tracks.
