Abstract
1485950 Expansion joints ALUMINIUM ALLOY FABRICATIONS Ltd 10 Feb 1975 [20 Nov 1973] 53878/73 Heading E1B An expansion joint comprises opposed edging pieces 11 and 12 between which extends a bridging piece 13, one edge of which 18 pivotally engages a socket 17 in the first edge member, the other edge 28 of the bridging piece resting on the base of a recess 27 in the second edge member, the height of the recess permitting pivotting of said bridging piece about an axis longitudinally of the joint and the depth of the recess permitting movement of the bridging piece perpendicular to said axis. An elastomeric seal 14 is supported on the upper face of the bridging piece. The edge pieces and the bridging piece are preferably aluminium alloy extrusions. When used for joints between concrete floor slabs 21, the lower faces of the edge members are serrated to key bonding material. Flange 19 and upper surface 26 of edge member 12 may also be serrated for keying adhesive for tiles 20.
