1485689 Waveform synthesis MARCONI CO Ltd 31 Oct 1975 [8 Nov 1974] 45113/75 Heading H3H An intuned waveform synthesis transmitter comprises a driving means 1 supplying rectangular switching pulses to at least two switching amplifiers 3, 3<SP>1</SP> ... 5, 5<SP>1</SP> in each of two amplifying sections, the outputs of the switching amplifiers of each section being combined at 6, 6<SP>1</SP> to form two stepped sine waves, combined at 7 to feed a common load 9 through a filter 8. A modulating signal applied to the driving means "outphases" the two sides by equal and opposite amounts, the two phase modulated signals are combined to form an amplitude modulated signal for transmission. Feedback may be provided from level sensing devices in the load or combining means 7 to the driving means to prevent overload, and the amplifiers comprise diode return circuits for energy associated with the reactive components of the load. Details of possible driving means are shown for deriving the switching waveforms from an R.F. generator and A.F. modulator and examples of amplifier circuits are shown (Figs. 7 and 3 and 4, not shown).
