1485630 Automatic exchange systems STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 19 Nov 1974 [29 Nov 1973] 55323/73 Heading H4K A telecommunication exchange includes a plurality of control processors each of which has access to an individual bank of registers, and means to allot a control processor to deal with the next call, each processor being arranged when it has accepted that call to check to see that it has an available free register suitable for that call and if not to transfer control of that call to another processor having available a free register suitable for the call. As shown the preallotter allots one control processor M.C.V. to be used for the next call. When that call arises it is detected by the scanner and accepted by the allotted M.C.V. That M.C.V. determines the type of register (dial pulse or multi-frequency) required and if such a register is free and connectable to the calling line or junction. If no useable register accessible to that M.C.V. is available, the M.C.V. searches in a cyclic store for free useable register, selects such a register, connects that register to the calling line or junction and transfers control of the connection to the M.C.V. which has access to that register. Transfer of connection data may take place via an exchange management processor as shown or any other "inter-control-unit" arrangement.
