Abstract

1485358 Colour television tubes INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 6 May 1976 [7 May 1975] 18599/76 Heading H1D In a shadow-mask colour television tube, mislanding of electrons on the phosphor dots resulting from thermal expansion and distortion of the shadow-mask is reduced by applying the anode voltage to the shadow-mask, and connecting the fluorescent screen to the shadowmask through a resistor of a valve chosen to generate a potential difference producing correcting deflection of the beams between the shadow-mask and the screen. Since the potential difference varies with the beam current, the arrangement connects not only for warm-up effects, but also for mislanding due to the prolonged flow of high beam current corresponding to the production of a bright picture. The conductive aluminium coating 3 on the fluorescent screen 2 is connected to the shadow-mask either by a resistive foil, or by a suitable laquer layer envelope coating replacing the usual graphite layer, or the resistive material may be incorporated in a terminal portion of the aluminium layer and make contact by a spring with the shadow-mask.
