Abstract
1485085 Friction clutches BROCKHOUSE TRANSMISSIONS Ltd 21 Feb 1975 7281/75 Addition to 1352465 Heading F2C A torque converter lock-up friction disc clutch 20 for a motor vehicle is disengaged by fluid pressure permanently supplied to one side B of a clutch servo piston 22 to overcome the action of a diaphragm spring 23, and is engaged by selectively supplying pressure fluid to the other side A of the piston 22. The pressure supplied to opposite sides of the piston 22 are unequal. The supply to the side A of the piston 22 is controlled by an electromagnetically operated valve. The clutch operating fluid pressure supply is tapped from the supply to or exhaust from the torque converter working circuit.
