Abstract

1485010 Portable containers; venting containers ALEXANDER DUCKHAM & CO Ltd 7 Oct 1975 [9 Oct 1974] 43673/74 Headings B8D and B8V A container assembly for collecting oil drained from a motor vehicle comprises first and second containers, each having a neck 3 or 4 and at least one flat side 1 or 2, and a collar 9 detachably-coupling the necks, the first container being provided with a side opening 7 opposite the side 1 and the second container, having a flat bottom 6 but no side opening. In use, the assembly is placed beneath an oil sump and the oil allowed to pass through the opening 7 into the first container. The assembly is then stood up on the flat bottom 6, and the oil allowed to drain from the first container into the second. Finally, the second container is uncoupled from the collar and capped. As shown, each container is of rectangular form. The collar has internally-threaded opposite ends and is provided with a vent tube 10 and 12 which extends in a generally U-shaped fashion from outside the collar through its side wall, along its bore, and back towards a side wall of the second container.
