1484858 Change dispensing machine NATIONAL REJECTORS (UK) Ltd 14 Aug 1974 [14 Aug 1973] 39504/73 Headings G4X and G4V A change dispensing machine has an electrically driven hopper dispenser, perforated dispenser disc 11, for dispensing coins serially from a hopper 12, a counter 16 for counting coins as they are dispensed and for terminating a dispensing operation when a predetermined number of coins have been dispensed, an accumulator 6 into which coins are dispensed from the dispenser in each dispensing operation and held, a coin or rate validator 1 for validating inserted coins or notes to be changed, and means, solenoid 4 and flap 5, for releasing coins stored in the accumulator on detection of a valid coin or note. Coins dispensed from hopper 12 activate a micro switch 14 which controls a motor 15 which drives ratchet counting device 16. When the predetermined number of coins have been counted contacts 17 are closed to shut off motor 10. A valid coin is directed into coin box 2 and activates switch 3 which in turn operates flap 5. Return movement of the flap is sensed by switch 9 which starts motor 10, for a dispensing operation. Invalid coins are diverted along shoot 8 to receiver 7. If power to the machine is cut off a manually resettable cut-out relay 18 activates a reject rod 19 so that it is inserted in validator 1 to deflect inserted coins to receiver 7. The cut-out relay 18 is also operated by a timing circuit 20. If the motor 10 runs for more than a preset time the timer issues an output signal to relay 18. The machine can be adapted for accepting coins of different denomination. This is achieved by having several stages to an accumulator. Coins are dispensed into the first stage and a logic circuit controls the feeding from one stage to another. Insertion of a valid coin will cause emptying of one or a combination of stages depending on the value of the coin or note inserted.
