1484060 Oxidation catalysts NATIONAL DISTILLERS & CHEMICAL CORP 30 Dec 1974 [28 Dec 1973] 56048/74 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] A catalyst composition comprising phosphoric acid and at least one of the metals palladium, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, copper, silver, gold, cobalt, nickel and chromium, is used in a process for the preparation of C 4 dicarboxylic acids by oxidising 2-butene in the vapour phase with molecular oxygen. The catalyst may be a fixed, moving or a fluidised solid or supported on a carrier such as silica, alumina, titania, carborundum, carbon or an ion-exchange resin, and prepared from metallic salts by conventional methods followed by a reduction stage.
