Abstract

1484008 Bed pans T C R SHEPHERD 4 Nov 1974 [14 Aug 1973] 38376/73 Heading A4N A disposable bed pan comprises a body portion 10 having a base wall 12 and an upstanding rim 14 extending therearound, said rim consisting in crosssection of two spaced side support walls 18, 20 joined by a transverse wall 22 which provides a patient seating surface, and a pair of reinforcing inserts 23, 24 located between said side walls. The members 10, 23, 24 are all disposable by comminution in the presence of water for discharge as a slurry to the drains and may be of papier machÚ. The wall 12 may have a ridge 16 and a shallow peripheral channel. The inserts are kidney-shaped flexible members and are identical before insertion, the body being wider at the rear than at the front and generally oval in plan view.
