Abstract

7-Substituted 8-aminomethylisoflavones of the formula I are water-soluble compounds which are active against hypoxia and hypercapnia. They also affect the calcium balance in a favourable sense, which makes them suitable as food additives. They are prepared by reacting compounds of the formula III with amines of the formula IV. The compounds of the formula III are obtainable by chloromethylation of the corresponding isoflavones. <IMAGE>
