1482108 Electrostatographic fuser device XEROX CORP 12 Nov 1974 [23 Nov 1973] 49001/74 Heading G2H [ Also in Division B8] A roll fusing apparatus comprises a heated roll 22 having a plurality of surface protrusions or ridges 46 which are compressed in the nip between roll 22 and pressure roll 24. Having passed through the nip copy material is lifted from roll 24 by reversion of the ridges 46 to their unstressed conditions. Roll 22 may be aluminium with a silicone rubber coating, roll 24 may be coated with p.t.f.e. and the heating of roll 22 may be internal or external.
