Abstract

1481902 Verifying documents GREY LAB ESTABLISHMENT 1 Oct 1975 [1 Oct 1974] 40170/75 Heading G4H In checking a document, e.g. a plastic card, and its user, the user inputs a code number through a keyboard 3 and card readers 1, 2 read information on the card peculiar to a group of cards and information peculiar to a particular card, all the input information is coded to provide address signals 4a, 5a, 6a for a permanent store 7 to select constant data and program command data for a computer 14 connected to an indicator 15. The card may include light conductors of square cross-section, magnetic or electrically conductive threads, fluorescent inserts or pores in plastic layers between layers of lower refractive index. The readers 1, 2 may include linear of areal masks and may read the card twice, the card being moved between readings. The indicator 15 may give a simple Yes/No, a multi place number or the name of the authorized user.
