Abstract

1481784 Blow-moulding J L WALLIS 21 Aug 1974 [22 May 1973] 24364/73 Heading B5A A double walled receptacle is produced by a blow-moulding process in which the parison is firstly inflated by a gas, the mould parts are closed around the inflated parison and a mould member is displaced to depress a portion of the parison and a second blowing stage is effected so that the depressed portion forms an opening in the receptacle to receive contents. Closing of the mould parts preferably seals the hole through which the first stage blowing is effected and pierces the parison for the second stage blowing. For the formation of pockets or compartments in the receptacle, the mould may have additional movable parts which may have blowing means. First stage blowing may be effected through one or both open ends of the parison. The receptacle may have handle sections formed by the nipping edges of the mould. The material may be high or low density polyethylene or polypropylene. The mould and mandrels may be cooled.
