1481475 Measures of volume COOPERS (SOUTH AFRICA) (PTY) Ltd 4 July 1974 [6 July 1973] 29589/74 Heading B8N A measuring device, e.g. a cylinder 10 is marked in numbers of units to be treated by a particular solution or suspension, the markings being such that when the device is filled with a concentrate to any level the volume of concentrate so measured will provide a solution of a predetermined concentration in a tank intended to treat the indicated number of units. The container is marked in numbers of head of cattle so as to produce a dip of a predetermined concentration when added to a tank intended to treat that number of cattle. In use the tank is filled to a known level with the solution of the desired concentration and the numbers of animals thereafter dipped therein is counted. To top up the tank the measuring cylinder is filled with concentrate up to the counted number of animals and this volume is added to the tank which is then filled up with diluent to the original level. A detachable rod of known volume, Fig. 2, may be inserted in the container to produce solutions of a different concentration. Alternatively more than one set of calibrations may be provided on the outside of the container, e.g. on a clip-on rod or adhesive strip.
