1481014 Coating plastics films with metal by eg vapour deposition HOECHST AG 30 May 1974 [1 June 1973] 23943/74 Heading C7F [Also in Division H5] An electric heating element, e.g. and electric blanket, comprises a film of insulating material, a layer of conductive carbon particles, e.g. carbon black or graphite, and a layer of metal e.g. Cu, Cr, Fe, Ni, Al, Ag or Au formed e.g. by vapour deposition. The metal layer consists neither of metal particles distributed in a polymer binder nor of a self-supporting layer. The film may be molecularly oriented and may be pvc, polyamide, polyoxymethylene, polycarbonate, polysulphone, polyamide imide, polyimide, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate or thermoset polyesters. Contacts may be formed by applying a lacquer of silver particles.
