Abstract

1480903 Hydraulic hammer K FOSTER 10 July 1974 [10 July 1973] 32906/73 Heading B4C An hydraulic hammer comprises a main cylinder having a main striker piston 1 for striking a tool bit, a substantially tubular outer casing around the main cylinder enclosing a substantially annular reservoir 13 for pressurized hydraulic fluid and an hydraulic system including a switching circuit for applying repeated pulses to drive the main piston 1 forward the piston being returned by pressurized fluid from the reservoir 13 acting on the front face of the main piston 1. A sub piston 5 is arranged in line with the main piston 1 and is pulse driven to act on the main piston the control coming from a control cylinder 51 and control piston 52 and a cylindrical valve 27. A pilot valve 42 may also be provided.
