Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] Catalysts comprise a porous carrier, metallic platinum or metallic palladium, metallic iridium, germanium in an oxidation state above that of the element and halogen, the platinum or palladium, iridium and geranium being substantially uniformly dispersed throughout the carrier. The catalysts may be sulphided and may contain an alkali or alkaline earth metal component and/or a Friedel-krafts metal halide.
