Abstract

1480472 Porous polyurethanes KURARAY CO Ltd 10 March 1976 [14 March 1975 (2) 26 March 1975 (2)] 09547/76 Heading C3R Porous polyurethanes are prepared by conventional coagulation techniques from a polyurethane elastomer which is derived from any one type of polyether glycol, polylactone glycol or polycarbonate glycol, an organic diisocyanate and a chain extender, the nitrogen content in the elastomer originating from the isocyanate group being 2À5 to 7% by weight based on the weight of the elastomer and the elastomer being (a) derived from at least two polymeric glycols having units of the same chemical structure, or a mixture of at least two polyurethane elastomers derived from polymer glycols of the same chemical structure but differing molecular weights, the amount of each glycol being 5 to 95% by weight based upon the total amount of polymeric glycol, the M.W. of each glycol being from 500 to 4000 and the difference in M.W. between the two glycols being from 100 to 3500, or (b) a mixture of two elastomers synthesized from the same chemical components in which the nitrogen content of each of the elastomers is 2 to 7À5% and the difference between the nitrogen contents between two kinds of elastomers is from 0À2 to 4À0 and the amount of each elastomer is 5 to 95% by weight based on the total weight of elastomer. Polyether glycols are particularly effective as starting materials in the production of the elastomers. Glycols are the preferred chain extenders.
