1480338 Self-propelled roundabout M J WARNES 9 Oct 1974 [11 July 1973] 33106/73 Heading A6M A self-propelled roundabout comprises a stand 10, a framework 25 mounted on the stand 10, for rotation relative to the stand about a vertical or substantially vertical axis, at least one seat 35, attached to the framework, and drive means enabling a person seated on the seat to effect rotation of the framework. The framework 25, (Fig. 1) comprises two pairs of arms 26 attached to bearings 27 and tubes 28 attached to the arms, each tube comprising a sleeve for a drive shaft 29 which carries a pulley 31 and a rubber-tyred wheel 30, which contacts a platform 22 mounted on a boss 20. A frame comprising members 34, 38 (Fig. 2) is secured to one of two sockets 33 supported by a bracket 32 and supports a seat 35 and handle bars 37. The pulley 31 is driven through a belt 40 by a pulley 39 rotated by pedals 41. A similar frame, seat and drive arrangement may be supported from the other socket 33 or alternatively the socket may support a frame 57 carrying a baby's seat 59 and hand hold 58. The rotary framework 25 is provided with a cover 64 or (74) (Fig. 5 not shown) and a belt guard 52 is provided. The cover (74) may be provided with childs' seats (75) and associated hand-holds (76). The platform 22 may be replaced by a suitable track or the tyred wheels 30 and platform 22 may be replaced by a rack and pinion arrangement. Pulleys 39 and 31 and belt 40 may be replaced by sprockets and a chain. The framework may comprise more than two pairs of arms 26 for supporting further frames 34. 38 or 57.
