Abstract

1480173 Reciprocating pumps EXXON PRODUCTION RESEARCH CO 19 Sept 1975 38541/75 Heading F1A [ Also in Division G1] Apparatus for monitoring the valves of a threeunit plunger pump A, B, C, Fig. 3, comprises thermistors 27-32 attached to the casing proximate to each suction valve 12 and each discharge valve 13 for comparing their temperatures. The thermistors are cyclically connected via switch 37 to a bridge circuit 46 and the outputs recorded at 35. Any increase in temperature outside a permitted deviation indicates a faulty valve. Each thermistor is attached by a magnetic cladding. Each pump unit consists of sections 10-13, Fig. 1, held together by couplings 14. The valve assemblies 12, 13 comprise housing members 18, 19 joined by coupling 20, containing a disc valve 21, valve seat 22, retainer 23 and spring 24.
