Abstract
1479843 Drying the gas feed to a catalytic reforming porcess CONTINENTAL OIL CO CORP 29 Oct 1975 [26 Feb 1975] 8054/75 Heading C5E In a catalytic reforming process having a recycle gas feed, a method of drying the gas feed on start-up comprises supplying the gas feed to a drier containing a molecular sieve or other solid drying agent of sufficient capacity to dry the feed without need for regeneration prior to start-up of the reforming unit, recycling the gas feed to the drier until the desired reduction in water content of the gas feed has been obtained, feeding the dried gas feed to the catalytic reforming unit and isolating the drier from the recycled gas circuit, commencing and continuing the catalytic reforming until the water content of the recycled gas has been further reduced and stabilized, and thereafter feeding a portion at least of the product gas stream, e.g. H 2 , through a recycling compressor to heat the same and passing the heated product stream from the compressor through the drier to regenerate the drying agent.
