1479565 Foot measuring apparatus BRUDER WINKLE 3 Oct 1975 [4 Oct 1974] 40645/75 Heading G1X A foot measuring device comprises a frame 1 having first and second measurement feelers 11, 12 each slidably displaceable in a respective one of two orthogonal directions, which are the longitudinal and transverse directions of the foot. Each feeler 11, 12 is operatively associated with a respective scale and has a portion that is located opposite to a respective foot abutment 37, 38. The feelers 11, 12 and abutments 37, 38 define an inner space for the foot, which space extends through the device so as to allow movement of the device relative to the foot after insertion thereof. In the embodiment shown, the device is symmetrical both in construction and scale markings about the central longitudinal plane A-A Fig. 2, although this need not be so Fig. 5 (not shown). As described, limbs 13, 23 of frame 10, which may be U-shaped Fig. 1 or circumferentially continuous (Fig. 5), are provided with respective tongues 18, 19 which engage a corresponding slot 20, 21 in the first feeler 11, stops 26, 27 limiting movement thereof. The second feeler 12 may be displaceably mounted on the feeler 11 either, Fig. 1 by projections 31 that engage behind a strut 24 that joins limbs 22, 23 of first feeler 11, or (Fig. 5) by pins (65, 66) which project from the second feeler 12 into slots (63) (64) in the strut 24 of first feeler 11. Marks 44, 48 and scales 43, 47 on the frame and feeler, either as shown or with the positions reversed, Fig. 4 (not shown) are provided for effecting measurement. The device may be of press moulded plastics.
