Abstract

1479342 Stabilizer R A MACKENZIE and A LAGSDIN 3 Sept 1974 38413/74 Heading B7J [Also in Division E1] A stabilizer for an earth moving apparatus such as a loader/backhoe comprises a stabilizer pad 74, Fig. 6, which is pivotally mounted at 72 on a stabilizer arm 70 and which is provided with a resilient, ground-engaging surface formed by a rubber pad 84 and also provided with further ground-engaging means such as flanges 87. The resilient pad 84 is employed on non- yielding 'ground surfaces' such as asphalt but the pad is rotated about pin 77 to the position shown for the flanges 87 to engage yielding surfaces such as gravel. As shown in Fig. 14, the resilient pad and flange means are provided on opposed surfaces of stabilizer pad 128a which is rotatable about a pin 142 to bring either surface into ground engagement, such rotation being limited by a stop 132. Instead of serving as an alternative to the resilient surface as above, the further ground-engaging means 156a, Fig. 16, are supplementary to the resilient pad 146, member 156a being movable from the dotted position to the full line position for use on yielding ground surfaces.
