Abstract

1478771 Stencils D J STEIDINGER 7 Oct 1975 41086/75 Headings B6A and B6C A stencil assembly comprises a stencil sheet 19, 20 supported by a frame 15 peripherally coextensive therewith, one face of the frame being entirely covered by pressure-sensitive adhesive, the stencil sheet being attached to the frame by adhesive, but at least a portion of the adhesive-coated surface extending beyond the stencil sheet. This portion is used to temporarily attach the assembly to a document, e.g. a multi-ply business form. The stencil sheet comprises porous paper layer 19 and barrier layer 20. In the embodiment shown, a layer 22 of pressure-transferable material is formed on the stencil sheet. Alternatively (Fig. 3, not shown), a separate carbon sheet may overly the stencil sheet and be attached to the frame by part of the exposed pressure-sensitive adhesive area. The stencil, when attached to the document may be cut by a typewriter or computer print-out, the carbon sheet marking the underlying form, and, if a multi-ply form has interleaved carbons, all the underlying plies. The stencil can then be detached, and, to facilitate this, the exposed adhesive may extend only part-way around the stencil sheet.
