Abstract

1478668 Electronic timepieces EBAUCHES SA 23 Aug 1974 [23 Aug 1973] 34227/74 Heading G3T [Also in Division G5] Pulses are applied to e.1. display elements of a timepiece by discharging a capacitor through the element. A L.E.D. 5 is energized by current from capacitors 1, 2 alternately discharging via transistors 3, 4 driven by squarewave pulse trains A, B, 180 degrees out of phase. In another embodiment the display comprises two figure of eight arrays of L.E.D.s a-g, p. Anodes of corresponding L.E.Ds are connected and supplied with current by capacitors 1, 2 via control transistors 21, 28. Cathodes of each array are inter-connected and controlled by transistors 29, 30 which are operated sequentially. Pulses are applied sequentially to transistors 21, 28 except when an L.E.D. is not to be energized. Thus a pulse from capacitor 1 is applied to L.E.D. <SP>a</SP>F, then a pulse from capacitor 2 is applied to L.E.D. bF et seq. Current is supplied to each capacitor via two transistor pairs 8, 9, 12, 13; 10, 11, 14, 15 and a resistor network which includes a photoresistor to increase current in high ambient light conditions.
