Abstract
1478446 Reduction of nitro-aromatic compounds RUHRCHEMIE AG 22 Jan 1976 [28 Jan 1975] 2576/76 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Halogen-containing amines or sulphur-containing aromatic amines are made by the reduction of the corresponding nitro-compounds with H 2 in the presence of a platinum-oncarbon catalyst which has been treated with H 2 in an aqueous medium and subsequently sulphided in the presence of H 2 (see Division B1). In an example p-chloroaminobenzene is made by the hydrogenation of p-chloronitrobenzene. Primary aryl or aliphatic amines may be reductively alkylated with a ketone and aryl disulphides may be reduced to thiophenols in the presence of the same catalysts.
