Abstract

1478290 Wood preservation C G ROWE 11 June 1974 [12 April 1973] 17624/73 Heading DIP A device for injecting pesticidal liquid into holes produced in wood, chipboard etc by burrowing pests, comprises a rigid tube I having a frusto-conical socket 5 at one end for connection to a reservoir of pesticidal liquid and being insertable at its other end into a pest hole, a body 2 surrounding the tube and being resiliently flexible at and adjacent its front end face so as to provide a resilient seal engageable in contact with the surface of the wood surrounding the mouth of the hole into which the end of the tube is inserted, and a rigid metal etc ferrule 3 surrounding the body and having an end portion 4 such as castellations pressing into a resilient surface portion of the body. The reservoir may be a hypodermic syringe barrel having a tubular boss 7 which is a push fit in the socket 5. The socket may be spaced from the body by a member 9, or may be provided with an annular surface abutting the body. The body may be made wholly of resilient material e.g. rubber, or of a Sandwich construction including rigid parts. A spring may urge the sealing surface against the wood. The tube may be of circular cross section and the front end may be cut square, inclined or rounded. The tube and body are preferably separately formed.
