Abstract

1477717 Cleaning screens ADAMS-HYDRAULICS Ltd 7 July 1975 [21 Oct 1974] 45404/74 Heading B1D An apparatus for cleaning screen 13 comprises rake carrier 20 reciprocable along a pair of guide rods or tubes 19 and supporting a pair of shafts 22 on which rake frame 24 carrying rake 25 is vertically movable, and a plate 26 for cleaning the rake. The carrier 20 and frame 24 are driven by piston-cylinders 33, 40 respectively. In use when a predetermined level has been sensed in chamber 10 by electrodes 43, 44 a bell (not shown) is sounded, the carrier 20 is set in motion and the solids separated from the sewage overflowing weir 15, on screen 13 are conveyed to chute 17 by rake 25 as it is carried to the right by carrier 20. At the end of its path the rake 25 is lifted, cleaned by plate 26 and then returned to the other end of the path in its inoperative position. The screen 13 may comprise a plurality of sections 14 each of which may be at different levels and provided with a respective independently controlled raking apparatus.
