Abstract

1477404 Wheel speed sensor EATON CORP 19 Dec 1974 [26 Dec 1973] 54939/74 Heading G1N A rotor for use in a wheel speed sensor comprises a wall portion 92 and a rotor face portion 94 cantilevered therefrom and having undulations formed therein to define a series of lands and recesses which extend for substantially the entire width of the face portion. The rotor is formed from sheet steel by stamping or shaping, and includes a rim portion 90 by which the rotor is mounted on a vehicle wheel. A stator for use with the rotor includes a coil 56, magnet 58 and polepieces 62, 64 mounted on a support 50. Support 50 is mounted on a vehicle brake flange by bolts 54 passing through elongate slots in support 50, and spring washers (82) interposed between the support and the bolt heads. As the wheel is mounted, the rotor engages plastics air-gap setting members 72 and pushes the support 50 towards the brake flange to set the air-gap.
