Abstract

1475645 Pressure indicators AISIN SEIKI KK 12 June 1975 [14 June 1974] 25154/75 Heading G1L [Also in Division F2] A warning device for a motor vehicle hydraulic braking system lights a warning lamp 43 in response to a certain pressure differential across a stepped piston 25, mounted in a stepped bone 24 of a housing 12, caused by failure of any of hydraulic lines 17, 16 and 20 connecting tandem master cylinder 13 to front brakes 18 and rear brakes 19 respectively, or alternatively caused by sticking of a proportioning valve 11 incorporated into the housing 12. The pressure differential across piston 25 may cause movement thereof in either direction according to the cause whereupon a camming portion 39 of the piston 25 forces plunger 40 radially outwardly, with respect to the piston, into contact with metallic tube 42 mounted in insulating plug 41. Movement of piston 25 also causes flow of fluid from intermediate chamber 38 through chamber 32 to rear brakes 19 by-passing the proportioning valve 11 and applying full brake pressure to the rear brakes in the event of any malfunction. This is achieved by a sealing ring 30 at the smaller end of piston 25 moving out of a small bore 25 into either of large diameter bores 26 or 24 according to the direction of piston movement.
