Abstract

1475620 Substituted -p-phenylenediamine MONSANTO CO 3 Nov 1975 45671/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises an N(sec-alkyl)-N<SP>1</SP>- (sec-alkyl) - p - phenylenediamine where the N(sec-alkyl) group contains from 3 to 6 carbon atoms and the N<SP>1</SP>(sec-alkyl) group contains 7 or 8 carbon atoms. The compounds may be prepared by reductive alkylation of an N(secalkyl)-p-phenylenediamine or N(sec-alkyl)-pnitroaniline wherein the sec-alkyl group contains from 3 to 6 carbon atoms with a ketone containing 7 or 8 carbon atoms; or the reductive alkylation of an N(sec-alkyl)-p-phenylenediamine or N(sec-alkyl)-p-nitroaniline wherein the sec-alkyl group contains 7 or 8 carbon atoms with a ketone containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms.
