Abstract
1474293 Centrifugally moulding bodies with sockets BASLER STUCKFARBEREI AG 15 Aug 1974 [20 Aug 1973] 36029/74 Heading B5A A hollow body having a socket of enlarged inner and outer diameter at one end, is centrifugally moulded from glass fibre reinforced plastics within a mould 1 and aaginst a ring 11 that shapes the socket. The mould 1 is mounted on bearings with its axis of rotation horizontal, and the insertion ring 11 of one part or multipart construction is detachably bolted or screwed to one end. A material feeder 5 is reciprocated a inside the rotating mould 1 and either (1) pauses momentarily each time it reaches the junction of the main body x and socket y so that material can enter the socket portion y, or (2) is held at this junction of x and y until y is filled, whereafter the reciprocation a is effected. The glass fibres are applied by compressed air from spools and chopped in the feeder head 7, or are applied before the plastics, as mats. The socket y comprises homogeneous glass fibres and plastics, while the body y can include alternate layers of glass fibre- and sand-reinforced plastics. The socket can be grooved (not illustrated).
