1474057 2 - Acetoxy - (ethyl or propyl-) acrylate DOW CHEMICAL CO 31 July 1974 [1 Aug 1973] 33851/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The preparation of 2-acetoxyethyl acrylate is described by reacting 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate and acetic anhydride at elevated temperature, optionally in the presence of a catalytic amount of a cation exchange resin. The corresponding 2-acetoxypropyl ester is obtained using 2- hydroxypropyl acrylate as a reactant.
