Abstract

1474042 Water-proofing cables STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 18 Nov 1975 [28 Nov 1974] 51572/74 Heading D1L The interstitial spaces between pairs of insulated conductors of a cable core are filled with waterproofing compound whilst the pairs of conductors are being brought together in a die by metering the compound into the centre of the die 4 from a coaxial nozzle 5 upstream thereof. The outer surface of the core is then smoothed by a rubber cone 9 on the downstream side thereof. The interstitial spaces of a cable subsequently made up from the cores are filled as the cores pass through a second die by compound exuding therefrom.
