1473475 Locks IDEAL SECURITY HARDWARE CORP 4 Feb 1975 [6 June 1974 6 Nov 1974] 4706/75 Heading E2A A lock comprises a housing 6 for mounting on a door 1 and a strike 19 for mounting on a door frame 2; the housing 6 has a nose portion 17 provided with a pair of vertically spaced notches 18 and the strike 19 has a pair of vertically spaced lugs 22 positioned to be received in the respective notches 18 when the door I is closed, and a bolt 24 is mounted in the housing 6 for movement in a generally vertical direction, the bolt 24 including a pair of vertically spaced arms 26 and a pair of axially aligned portions 27 for movement into and out of apertures 23 in the lugs 22 when the door I is closed. The bolt 24 is urged towards its fastening position with the lugs 22 engaged in apertures 23 by a spring 32 and the bolt 24 is releasably held in its fastening position by a retainer member 34 having a head 36 which slidably engages a hub 38 integrally formed with the housing 6, and is urged theretowards by a spring 40. The retainer member 34 is retractable by one or other of a pair of cams 41 being rotated to move a cam follower 55 against the bias of a spring 56 and the cams 41 are respectively operable by a handle 43 on the inner surface of the door 1 or a cylinder lock mechanism 51 on the exterior of the door 1. A safety locking member 58 includes a lug portion 60 receivable within a notch 61 to hold the bolt 24 against movement away from its fastened position be either the handle 43 or lock mechanism 51. The member 58 has secured thereto a leaf spring 62 formed to provide a detent that is receivable selectively in a pair of notches 63 in the housing 6 to releasably hold the member 58 in a locking or unlocking position relative to the bolt 24. The bolt 24 is releasably held in its unfastened position by an actuator lever 64 having an end portion 72, which engages the strike 19 upon final closing movement of the door 1 to move the lever 64 to disengage a hook portion 67 of the lever 64 from a recess 69 in the bolt 24 to allow the bolt 24 to move to its fastening position. In the embodiment of Figures 7, 8 which embodiment is the subject of the claims the bolt 24' has two notches 61', 74 whereby the lug portion 60 of locking member 58 may hold the bolt 24' in its fastened or unfastened position.
