1473392 Cement compositions JAPAN INORGANIC MATERIAL CO Ltd 10 April 1974 [20 Nov 1973] 46719/76 Divided out of 1473391 Heading C1H [Also in Division D1] The physical strength of cured cement is enhanced by incorporating into an aqueous cement mixture glass fibres which have been treated to enhance their cement-alkali resistance with an aqueous solution containing one or more of an inorganic oxyacid of phosphorus or a salt thereof for a time sufficient to produce a surface coating, and the mixure is then cured. The fibres may be treated by immersion in the solution, e.g. at 80-95‹ C. for 2 hours, each decrease of 10‹ C. in the temperature requiring an increase of 100% in the treatment time. The concentration of the aqueous solution is preferably less than 10%, e.g. 1%. The fibres may be soda glass optionally containing zirconia.
