Abstract

1472468 Interpolyamide powders E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 19 April 1974 [19 April 1973] 17302/74 Addition to 1394706 Heading C3R The invention modifies that of the parent Specification 1,394,706 (which relates to solutions of melt-condensed interpolyamides having at least 4 different repeat units) by selecting a more specific combination of the diacid monomers to obtain an interpolymer in the form of a powder and having a minimum flow temperature of at most 125‹ C. In such interpolymer the following percentages of amide equivalents are provided by the indicated monomers: (a) 35 to 55% omega-aminocaproic acid; (b) more than 10 to 30% by a C 6-20 polymethylene diamine and adipic, azelaic, sebacic or dodecane dioic acid; (c) and (d) are both as specified for (b) but must each contain a different one of the acids from that in (b) and that in the other. Acetic acid may be used as chain terminator and about 1% of a polyethylene polyamine to provide secondary amine groups. The powdered polymers are useful as textile adhesives. Reference is made to Specification 1,272,465.
