Abstract

1471246 Radio navigation LITCHSTREET CO 16 June 1975 [21 June 1974] 25612/75 Addition to 1407092 Heading H4D In an additional use of the signals provided by the system described in Specification 1,407,092, the bearing angle #<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, of the other transponder is calculated using the signals indicating the time of reception of the SSR north reference pulses and the signal N representing the interval between successive such signals and thus the rotational period of the SSR beam scan, together with the replies from the other transponder. In the additional circuitry of Fig. 8 the several successive transponder replies are fed to an envelope detector 150 to produce a signal which stops a timer 152 started by the previous received north reference pulse (line 154). This gives an interval signal L indicating the time the beam takes to sweep from north to the other transponder. A divider 156 produces a signal representing L/N which is converted to angle #<SP>1</SP> by x 360 degree function generator 162.
