1470734 Oxidation of unsaturated ketones SNAMPROGETTI SpA 12 June 1975 [12 June 1974] 25280/75 Heading C2C A diol-dione of the formula where R<SP>1</SP> to R<SP>4</SP> are hydrogen or hydrocarbyl, is made by oxidizing a compound with a system comprising OsO 4 and an alkali or alkaline earth metal chlorate, the amount of the latter being at least stoichiometric with respect to the osmium tetroxide.
