Abstract
1470232 Incubating and hatching appliances ROBBINS INCUBATOR CO 22 April 1974 [25 March 1974] 17456/74 Heading A1M Apparatus for hatching eggs comprises an air conditioning chamber 12 with a blower 34 providing closed circuit air circulation paths through hatching bays 14, 16, the circulating air returning to the chamber 12 through inlet ports 22, 24 fitted with filters 102. The filters become progressively clogged down from the hatching chicks, thus increasing the pressure differential across the blower 34 and causing increasing amounts of fresh air to be drawn in through an inlet conduit 104 having a port 108 downstream of the filter and upstream of the blower and increasing amounts of air to be discharged through a waste air outlet 114, so that the air is changed in accordance with the requirements. A mobile air conditioning unit 36 has a rotary disc humidifier 38, cooling coils 40, heater bars 42 and the blower 34, and when in position in the chamber 12 the blower outlet 32 is connected to an air discharge port 28 of the chamber by a quick-release coupling and a conduit 30. Air is directed to the hatching bays by baffles 84, 86 and baffles 100 deflect air flowing vertically downwardly between the outer side of egg racks 88 and the bays to flow horizontally over egg trays 90.
