Abstract
1470213 Laminates SOLVAY & CIE 23 May 1974 [15 June 1973] 23043/74 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions C3 and C7] Laminates comprise a sheet of chrysotile asbestos together with a diaphragm comprising a sheet formed of a homogeneous-mixture of fibres of amphibole asbestos, e.g. crocidolite or anthophyllite, and bound with fibrils of polyvinylidene fluoride. The fibrils may be about 0À01-5 mm. thick, 0À5-50 mm. long and have a specific surface greater than 1 m.<SP>2</SP>/g. The laminates may be made by fixing, e.g. by pressure and heating a sheet of the asbestos against the diaphragm or by sandwiching the diaphragm between two sheets of the asbestos. The laminates are used in electrolytic cells.
