Abstract

1469714 Mixing particulate solids with glue W LODIGE F LODIGE and J LUCKE 28 March 1974 13852/74 Heading B1C In an apparatus for and method of mixing glue with chips, fibres or similar particulate material, mixing tools 7, 9 and 11 are rotatably mounted in a mixing chamber 1 and impart a circulatory movement upon the material around the inner wall of the chamber so as to form a ring 10 and glue feeding ducts 19, which as shown are removably located in passages 15 extend into the chamber such that their inner ends 19a are spaced from the chamber wall and lie within the ring 10 and face in the circulatory direction 6 of the material, Figure 2. The ducts 19 are arranged so that at least one axially adjacent pair are spaced from each other by a distance which allows the passage of a mixing tool 9 therebetween. Tools 9 have "bootshaped" ends with the "sole" 16a passing close to the inner chamber wall 13, Figure 6b, and the "upper" 17 diverts the material so that it flows past and over the adjacent feed ducts 19 to remove glue deposits. Alternatively, ducts 19 may be dispensed with and the glue is fed through passages 15 which are extended inwardly. Glue may be fed to the ducts by manifold tubes 21, Figure 2, supplied by forked tubes 24 (Figures 4 and 5 not shown) and transparent connecting tubes 20 may be provided for observation purposes. A plurality of manifold tubes (21a, 21b, 21c Figure 5) may be used if other substances in addition to glue are to be added.
