Abstract

1469037 Fluid pressure brakes NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 30 Jan 1975 4139/75 Heading F2F A fluid pressure controlling device, for a vehicle hydraulic braking system capable of developing independent and variable first and second fluid pressures for the front and rear brakes of the vehicle, comprises a housing 32 with a stepped bore 34, a differential plunger 36 axially movable in the bore, a first inlet port 24 supplying the first fluid pressure to a first end face of the plunger, a second inlet port 26 fluidly separate from the first for supplying the second fluid pressure to a middle portion of the plunger, an outlet port 30 communicable with the second inlet port through the bore, a piston 56 axially movable in the bore opposite a second end face of the plunger, the piston and second end face being fluidly isolated from the first and second inlet ports; a first compression spring 58 between the second end face and the piston, a third inlet port 28 for supplying one of the fluid pressures to a face of the piston more remote from the plunger, a decelerationresponsive member 66 in the bore between the piston and the third inlet port; a valve seat member 78 to break the fluid communication between the third inlet port and the piston when the member 66 is seated on the seat member 78, the arrangement being such that the second fluid pressure is transmitted to the outlet port without modulation when the pressure magnitude is below a critical value but modulated to a third pressure when the said value is exceeded, the rate of increase of the third pressure being lower than the rate of increase of said second pressure; the areas of the plunger end faces being so related that the critical value is raised when the first pressure is not supplied to the first inlet port and the member 66 being seated on the valve seat when the device is subjected to a deceleration larger than a predetermined value to prevent the load on spring 58 from increasing, the said load being so regulated that the critical value is raised as the gross weight of the vehicle increases.
