Abstract

1468683 Control of filter output SEITZ-WERKE GmbH 17 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 26769/74 Heading BID The filtrate from a filter press (e.g. for beer) has its distribution controlled by valves 22, 24, and 26, which are switched electropneumatically by a computer 30 which has electrical conductivity monitoring electrodes 18 and 33 which respectively measure the conductivity of wash water in pipe 17 passing to input valve 13, 14, 16 and conductivity of filtrate from outlet to pipe 12. Filtrate is passed to beer storage tank 23, dilute beer tank 25, or waste outlet 36 in dependence on conductivity values which are pre-set in the computer but are varied in dependence upon a variation of conductivity of the wash water input. The percentage composition of the liquid output of the filter determines its destination and is controlled within limits that are independent of changes in conductivity of feed wash water.
