Abstract

146,867. Friant, E. Feb. 7, 1916, [Convention date]. Tanks.-Means for sealing the apertures made in an aluminium or aluminium-lined tank by projectiles comprise a layer V, Fig. 2, of viscous material between sheets E, and layers F of fibrous or pulverulent material. In a modification, the viscous material is contained in caoutchouc bags C, Fig. 4, coated with a paste made of fibrous or pulverulent material impregnated with viscous material, the bags being disposed between sheets S of rubberized fabric and layers F of fibrous material, and a network covering T being provided. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a tank provided with a lining or coating of cork or similar material, or with spaced double walls. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
