Abstract
1468530 Electro-photographic members SEKISUI KAGAKU KOGYO KK 8 March 1974 10499/74 Heading G2C An electro-photographic member comprises a melt-shaped blend e.g. a sheet of (a) an insulating thermoplastic polymer, (b) 0.0001-40 parts by weight per 100 parts of (a) of an organic sensitizer which is a dye, an electron acceptor or an electron donor, (c) 100-900 parts by weight per 100 parts of (a) of a particulate inorganic photo-conductor, the particles having sensitizer (b) adsorbed thereon, and (d) 0.02-1 part by weight per 100 parts of (c) of a metal salt of a fatty acid, the metal being of Group IIb, IIa, except radium, or IVb. Specified photo-conductors are ZnO, TiO 2 , ZnS or CdS whereas specified electron acceptors are organic acids and anhydrides, tetracyanobenzoquinodimethane and tri-nitrofluorenone. Specified electron donors are polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons and amino-aryl compounds. The member may also contain an insulating inorganic powder such as talc, clay, sulphates, carbonates, ZnS, TiO 2 , ZnO, mica, kaolin or asbestos. The member may be irradiated with ionizing radiation, e.g. alpha-, beta-, gamma-, or x-rays, electron beams or ultraviolet) to improve charging potential and dark decay, this exposure being carried out before charging. The member may also be stretched in 1 or 2 directions to produce a micro-porous structure. The member is preferably laminated to a conductive support or a support with a conductive layer but may be used as a self-supporting member.' The member is produced by extrusion, injection, compression, blow or deep-draw moulding or by rolling to produce the desired sheet, rod or tube. In the Examples, images may be formed on both sides of the member, of Example 2.
