Abstract

1465099 Seals BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS Inc 21 Aug 1974 [10 Oct 1973] 36692/74 Heading F2B [Also in Division B2] In order to minimize the escape 36 of a gross leakage 33 of fluid from tubes (17), the lid 13 of a centrifuge rotor 11 has a series of ducts 28 or 28<SP>1</SP> in the sealing ring groove 31. The sealing ring 22 acts like a safety valve in reducing the quantity of the leakage to that which will only just succeed in prising the lid and rotor apart. In another form, the groove (42, Figs. 5A and 5B, not shown) is in the rotor.
