Abstract

1464547 Roller blinds ROTALAC CO Ltd 2 Oct 1974 [6 Oct 1973] 46777/73 Heading A4B A spring roller for a roller blind comprises an outer barrel 10 with end blocks 12, an inner core 16 of polygonal cross-section passing through blocks 12 via sleeve bearings 14 rotatable relative to the blocks but not to the core, spring-loaded retractable pins 18 in the core ends, the pin springs 19 seating on seats provided internally of the core, and a main spring 22 acting between said core and one end block for being tensioned during unwinding to effect automatic winding-up. As shown, each seat is provided by a lug 2U punched out of the core wall. Alternatively, each seat may be provided by two or more lugs, a rivet extending through the core, a waisted portion of the core, or core recesses. The spring 22 has one end 23 retained in a recess in one of the blocks 12 and the other end 26 attached to a carriage 27 slideable but non-rotatable on core 16. One sleeve bearing 14 and its block 12 can be locked against relative rotation by a pawl 21 on block 12 engaging with detents 14a on bearing 14. In use, square-sectioned parts 18b of pins 18 seat in square recesses in a window frame etc. to prevent rotation of parts 18, 16, 14, 27.
